Do I have to purchase an instrument for my child to try band?

No. Most parents rent an instrument on a monthly basis form a reputable local provider. At The Tune Shop we offer quality name brand instruments in our rent to own band instrument rental program. See the rental button on this website, Our rent to own program only requires a three month minimum rental commitment, and includes all maintenance and repair at our local repair facility located in downtown Leavenworth.

How do we determine which is the best instrument for my student to play?

Usually the band directors do a mini-tryout for the students the year before they are ready to try band. This is a great opportunity for the kids to try the mouthpieces and see which ones are easiest for them to make a sound with. We can teach most kids any instrument they choose to play. At The Tune Shop we offer Private lessons for beginning to advance students to help them get off on the right foot.

We have an instrument in the family. Can my student use that one?

That is a great question for our onsite repairman. Most name brand instruments can be put into working condition regardless of age. You are welcome to call The Tune Shop or stop by for a personal consultation with our knowledgeable onsite repairman or email you question to eric@tuneshoponline.com.

Once I have an instrument then what?

The keys to learning to play a band instrument are Practice, Maintain, and Play. As student musicians we need to find about a half hour a day to practice our material. The school band director will teach our of a band method book. Private lessons with a specialist on your instrument are the best way to know what to practice. The Tune Shop offers Private lesson instruction on all instruments with professional teaching musicians who are specialists on their instruments.

Maintenance of a band instrument is usually minimal, and should be done on a regular basis. Most musicians have their instrument looked at by a repair person once a year to make sure it is in top playing condition. The Tune Shop offers onsite repair and free consultation on all repair needs.

Playing is the fun part of music. Most good musicians will jump at every opportunity to play. To keep students interested, The Tune Shop keeps in stock many popular choices of fun music to keep students playing through out the year.
